TMC Monastics
Lama Gyaltsen
Resident monk
Lama Gyaltsen, an
ordained monk,
joined us in 2004 when he came from Jangchub Ling, Dehra Dun, India to
help out with projects at the center. In particular, he has assited
Drupön Thinley with the upkeep of the Lama House at the
retreat-center and also in the building of the stupa. Lama-la assists
in all the major and minor ritual-events at the center (such as
constructing sand-mandalas), acting as the "shrine-master" (chopon)
and also instruct others in the correct performance and preparation of
many rituals central to our lineage. He has performed funerals,
memorial services, conducted house-blessings, consecration of sacred
images and offered support and counsel to many members and visitors
alike. Lama-la also teaches Tibetan language classes from time to time.
Always quick to
work and be the first to volunteer, Lama Gyaltsen is a joy to have
around and in his own quiet and unassuming way is teaching by example.
