Losar - Tibetan New Year Celebration

Sunday February 14 marks the first day of the Year of Iron Tiger. Come celebrate the start of a new year (Tib. losar) at the Center. We will begin with the traditional "Offering to the Spiritual Mentor" (Tib. Lama Chopa) and "Shower of Blessings Feast Offering" (Tib. tsok) practices. Please bring some food-offering for the feast-offering (cut fresh fruit, dried fruits, nuts, breads, cookies, any vegetarian finger-food, juices). Following this will be a special White Dzambhala puja to generate spiritual and material wealth, well-being and generosity, an outdoor Sang-Ritual (offering of juniper/cedar smoke as a means of purification and cleasing) and the blessing and hanging of new prayer-flags. Come dressed warmly for the outdoor events.

A potluck lunch for the new year follows the practices - bring a dish to share on this auspicious day!

Saturday February 20 - Sunday February 21
10 AM - Noon & 2 - 5 PM
Program: Manjushri Lord of Speech Empowerment & Teachings
Vajra Master: Khenpo Tsultrim Tenzin

Khenpo Tsultrim will be confer a Manjushri empowerment (in the aspect of "Lord of Speech") followed by teachings and instructions on the Manjusri sadhana known as "Light of Wisdom" on the weekend of February 20 – 21, 2010. Manjushri is a Bodhisattva who represents wisdom and his mantra symbolizes that quality. He holds a sword in his right hand — symbolizing his ability to cut through delusion and book at his heart, the Perfection of Wisdom teachings (Prajnaparamita-sutra).

As we have the expenses of caring for our teachers and upkeep on our buildings and grounds, we appreciate a donation of $45 per day, though no one will be refused attendance due to lack of money. Dana-offerings to the teacher will be done at the end of the teaching-weekend.
